October is National Manufacturing Month and the Office of Economic Development (OED), along with the Frederick County Workforce Services will be highlighting the manufacturing industry throughout the month. Manufacturers in the United States are the most productive in the world, surpassing the worker productivity of any other major manufacturing economy. U.S. manufacturing employs more than 12 million people, created 135,000 new jobs as of July, 2021, and has the largest economic impact of any major sector.
Frederick is fortunate to have a diverse manufacturing base with infrastructure and resources in place for growth. Frederick has 193 manufacturing companies employing more than 5,300 people, with total wages exceeding $93.5 million and average annual salary of $70,304. STULZ Air Technology Systems, EDCO, Dairy Maid Dairy, Wright Manufacturing, Canam Steel Corporation, Bimbo Bakeries, Flying Dog Brewery, McCutcheon Apple Products, Abicor Binzel, and ACDi are just a few of the many advanced manufacturers that call Frederick their home.
