RRD, known as R.R. Donnelley located in Thurmont, Maryland recently celebrated their 70th year in business and their continued growth over the years. RRD is a Fortune 500 integrated communications company that provides commercial printing and marketing and business communications services.In 1950, the Thurmont plant opened as Moore Business Forms. Moore Business Forms received many accolades over the years. For instance, in the late 1980’s, Moore Business Forms was awarded the 1990 US Census contract, 96.5 million packages between Thurmont and sister facility in Utah. In 1990, the Thurmont facility was recognized as the 5th largest mailer in the State of Maryland mailing over 200 million packages. In 1995, the 165,000square foot plant received their first ISO certification.In 2003, Moore Business Forms and Wallace Computer Services merged together to form one of the largest providers of print management solutions in the world. The combined company would be named Moore Wallace.R.R. Donnelley and Moore Wallace merged in 2004 to create the worldwide premier full service commercial printer, keeping the name of R.R. Donnelley. With a focus on customer service, RRD helps each client reach maximum impact and efficiency through document production and mailing services.
Today, RRD has approximately 320 employees at the Thurmont facility. According to Jodie Bollinger, Director of Business Retention and Expansion of the Frederick County Office of Economic Development, “We are very fortunate to have RRD located in our County.
